About the project
Identity is the result of a person’s socialization, the content and structure of which depend on his/her immediate circle as well as the sociocultural space of the growing up process. Recent social transformations have resulted in strong changes of social and personal identity of the younger generation which differs from the previous ones in the new and varied forms of identity and the freedom of its manifestation. The important question that remains to be answered is how those circumstances influence self-identification and identity of a gifted person. The study involves a comprehensive study of some basic elements of the structure and content of cognitive representation of social identity which is based on the original theoretical synthesis of socio-psychological and narrative approaches. This project is the part of the fundamental psychological study of the development of social identity and the formation of social maturity. Social identity sets a paradigm of the perception of the world, it underlies the worldview attitudes and value orientations of a person as well as individual behavioral patterns. The relevance of the study is conditioned by the need to discover the age dynamics of social identity given a constantly changing world and to search for the psychological and social factors that affect a person’s identity during the socialization period. The results may contribute to the deepening of contemporary academic knowledge on social identity, age dynamics of social identity, social identity of the gifted. The results can be used as a prognostic tool for the formation of social maturity of schoolchildren and adolescents, the analysis of the socio-cultural changes, cross-cultural studies of social identity. The initial stage of the project will be dedicated to the development of the basic concepts of the study (social identity, giftedness, social giftedness, cognitive representation of narrative identity, etc.) and their operationalization. At the second stage an empirical study will be carried out in order to analyze of the content and structure of social identity of gifted children at various age stages: early childhood, middle childhood, early adolescence. During the third stage all the acquired date will be systematized and analyzed. All hypotheses, theses, empirical and theoretical results that are planned to be obtained during this project are authentic and new. The results of the study will be presented at scientific conferences, in a series of scientific articles, a collective monograph.
